About me



My name is Mrs. Karen Wilform! I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. After high school, I attended San Diego State University (SDSU) and received my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. After college, I married, became a homemaker, and homeschooled our four beautiful children through high school. I was happy to be teaching, just in a different venue.

Some decades later, as our three oldest children approached high school, we began preparing them for college. As of 2024, our two oldest children have graduated from top universities, our third is attending another, and our youngest is conquering the 8th grade. My husband continued his studies and completed an MBA (2018) and PhD (2023). Lastly, in 2019, I returned to SDSU to complete a California Teacher Certification (Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, completed in 2020). I also obtained a Substitute Teaching Permit under the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Afterward, I entered SDSU’s Master of Arts in Teaching program and graduated in 2021.

I am at an advantageous time where I can not only homeschool my son but also give back and make an impact through tutoring in the lives of other students. I have always believed in the value of education and its importance in our lives. Through the inspiration and teaching I received in the past, I am excited to continue my career in education. I have learned that you are never too old to go back to school and accomplish whatever your heart desires.
